PA Governor Tom Wolf announced 15 new commissioners and 18 returning commissioners of the Governor’s Advisory Commission on Latino Affairs. They were sworn in during a ceremony at the state Capitol.

Our own Monica Ruiz, Casa San Jose Executive Director, was chosen as the new Commissioner representing Allegheny County. We congratulate Monica on the designation!

At the ceremony Gov. Wolf talked about PA’s foundation in inclusion and diversity of which the Latino community is an important part. He commended the Latino Affairs Commission members for their commitment and dedication.

More and more government agencies and organizations are wanting to hear from Latinos on a variety of issues including healthcare, education, and economic development.

We are excited for future opportunities Allegheny County Hispanics and those throughout the state will have to share their input and pressing needs with the Commission member and PA officials in Harrisburg.
