Restaurants and Bars Ordered to Close in 5 Counties including Allegheny

Governor Wolf has ordered the closure of all restaurants and bars in several counties in the state beginning Monday, March 16. The affected counties are

  1. Allegheny
  2. Bucks
  3. Chester
  4. Delaware
  5. Montgomery

These measures will last for 2 weeks and are one more strategy of the state to prevent the spread by coronavirus.

Establishments offering meal delivery service or take out, and drive-thrus can continue their operations.

Businesses that do not comply with this order may face enforcement actions.

The Governor shared that “ensuring the health and safety of Pennsylvanians is the highest priority” as the state handles the increase in COVID-19 infections. The state’s secretary of health also urged the population to continue “social distancing” to mitigate the repercussions of the virus in our communities.

The administration advised non-essential businesses in the 5 counties to close their stores during the two weeks to protect both employees, customers and suppliers, and thus avoid virus spread through personal or surface contact. They indicated that financial assistance would be avaiable to mitigate the economic impacts of these closings.
