At Southern Cone Translations, we offer a wide array of services in both translation and interpreting, for both organizations and individuals, including the translation of legal and financial documents, simultaneous interpreting of academic conferences, and much more. We’re a corporate member of the American Translators Association (ATA) and our GM is a member of the Chilean Translators and Interpreters Association (COTICH). We’d be happy to speak to you over the phone, via Zoom or Meet, or in person. If you’re located here in town, we’d love to meet up for a cafecito to discuss your linguistic needs!

But do you know where our company got its name?

Southern Cone Translations was founded in 2016 in Chile, which is part of the Southern Cone region, or el Cono Sur. We are proud of where we come from and strive for this to be reflected in both our brand and the services we provide.

The Southern Cone is the geographical region encompassing the lower part of South America, which is shaped like a cone, and includes the countries of Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and Paraguay. It is home to a diverse array of climates, from the Pampas to Patagonia, and languages, from Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese to hundreds of different indigenous languages.

But first thing’s first: do you know the difference between translation and interpreting?

These words are sometimes used interchangeably outside of the profession, but translation refers to translating written texts and documents and interpreting is strictly spoken translation, which can be used at conferences, meetings, court proceedings, hospital settings, and more.

We invite you to check out our website to find out more about the services we offer. Also, check out our

machine translation like Google and DeepL actually work: www.SouthernConeTranslations.com

Making a Positive Impact

Chilean Women’s Ice Hockey Team

And last, but certainly not least, we are a company that believes in generating a positive impact in the communities where we do business. In light of this, we have been a corporate sponsor for the last two years of the Chilean Ice Hockey Team. Yes, there’s hockey in South America! And we hope there will be more in the coming years! We believe that sports in general are very empowering, especially for young women, and our hope is to provide funding so that more women from Chile and Latin America can have access to all different kinds of sports. We look forward to finding other similar causes in Pittsburgh to provide our support.

On that note, and given our love for sports and hockey in particular: Let’s Go Pens!!
