LULAC to Host Deported Veterans Panel Discussion

On Friday, November 13, 2020, the Leasgue of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) is hosting panel discussion with guests Green Card Veterans’ Council President Carlos Luna, Deported & Repatriated Veterans Miguel Perez, Jr. & Hector Barajas, and Honorable Senator Tammy Duckworth on the topic of Deported Veterans.

The discussion will give an understanding of how this is possible under current laws, what the experience of veterans going through deportation and repatriation have been, and how we move forward under the current political climate.

Other panelists include Dr. Alfredo Gonzalez, PHD, Chicano & Chicana Studies, Marine Corps Veteran and Immigration and Veteran activist, currently serving in the US Army, Yesenia Mata. The moderator will be Leora Hudak, MA, LCSW, whose work focuses on secondary trauma support and resilience-building for front-line workers along the US-Mexico border, and the development of service delivery models for migrant populations in the border region.
