By Caelin Grambau, University of Pittsburgh English Writing & Spanish double major

The Pittsburgh Perspectives Festival is coming to Insomnia Discotec in Beechview on June 26 with the sound of Latin Music! Sweet Plantain, a string quartet, will perform a mix of Latin music to bridge between generations and genres of Latin American music.
SWEET PLANTAIN bridges the gap between generations and genres of Latin American music. The group’s diverse repertoire heavily features the works of notable Latin American composers like Astor Piazzolla, Mongo Santamaría, Aldemaro Romero, and Paquito D’Rivera, alongside the original compositions and arrangements of the quartet’s own members.
