The Pittsburgh Hispanic Development Corporation is a community development corporation with no geographic boundaries, focusing on racial equity in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Part of what PHDC does for local Hispanics is providing assistance in finding a home.
The PHDC housing initiative is a collaborative effort between the organization and real estate companies/landlords to facilitate access to the rental market for our community. They work with realtors to find places for individuals and families, along with helping to arrange private financing.
The PHDC Housing Initiative assists in facilitating the following:
- Coordinating appointments
- Providing help in completing applications
- Facilitating communications between landlords and tenants
- Coordinating lease completions
- Following up during lease term
The Hispanic corporation organizes educational workshops to discuss topics including credit building, home purchase planning, inspections and permits, obtaining loans, rights and obligations, and available benefits through government or non-profit entities. Those interested in attending the workshops may call 412-343-0545 or follow the Pittsburgh Hispanic Development Corporation’s Facebook page for additional information.
In addition to the housing program, the PHDC is housed in a multicultural space that provides personalized assistance with experienced staff who are fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and English, and who understand the perspective of Hispanics in the community.
