Looking for something to do this weekend? World Square is once again returning to downtown Pittsburgh to showcase the city’s international and immigrant communities Friday through Sunday in Market Square! The event will run from Friday, June 10th, 5 – 10 pm, to Saturday, June 11th and Sunday, June 12th,12 – 8. It is completely free to the public and good for all ages, including families and children. Businesses, artists, restaurants, performers and more will be showcased from across the international community.

The focus of the event, originally launched in 2019, is to allow the diverse communities of Pittsburgh to showcase their culture. The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, one of the hosts of World Square, describes the event as “a global outlook and a unique opportunity for international and newcomer communities within the region”. Mayor Ed Gainey also spoke about the event saying “Through food, music, dance, creative art, crafts and more, World Square allows us to celebrate some beautiful and unique aspects of our city, even in the midst of difficult and trying times.”

A few highlights of this year’s event vendors are El Rincón Oaxaqueño, specializing in authentic oaxacaqueño recipes and Pupusas y Antojitos Helen LLC, which will be serving agua frescas and pupusas originating from Salvador. A number of LatinX dance troupes and Brazilian jazz performers will also be showcased during the weekend’s events, including Noel Quintana & The Latin Crew!
