Imagine the possibility of exploring the Caribbean and South America in a single trip! In Pittsburgh, El Chaqueño invites you to enjoy an exquisite fusion of Argentine and Dominican flavors that will surely captivate you. This exciting combination is the result of the effort and creativity of the team made up of Argentine Norberto Segovia and Dominican Auilda, a couple who have united the best of their cultures to offer you a unique culinary experience.
El Chaqueño’s menu includes Argentine dishes such as choripán, a grilled pork sausage sandwich on baguette-style bread, tomatoes, onions with chimichurri sauce, as well as alfajores, a cornstarch-based cookie with a dulce de leche filling, and tasty empanadas.
Meanwhile, on the Dominican side, Caribbean comfort food offerings include La Bandera (a dish of rice, beans and meat), as well as the picalonga (Dominican sausage, salami, chicharrón and fried plantains) and the chimi sandwich, made with pulled pork, cabbage, onion, ketchup and mayonnaise.
Norberto and Auilda are now excited and busy with preparations for the opening of their brick and mortar restaurant in Finleyville (Washinton Cty.)
Diners have praised the food and warm hospitality of El Chaqueño’s creators. With the resounding success they have achieved and the invaluable support of the Hispanic Corporation (PHDC), Norberto and Auilda are now excited and busy with preparations for the opening of their brick and mortar restaurant in Finleyville (Washinton Cty.) this spring. Our best wishes for this new venture to be a resounding success!
