Luciana Brussi Costantino, known fondly as ‘Miss Lucy’ to her students, is the founder and owner of Lua Dance Club. Born in Brazil, Brussi Costantino’s dance career began at the early age of seven, and by age 17 she began teaching children’s dance lessons with a professional dance group in São Paulo, Brazil.

At age 19, she began her international career across Europe and Asia. In 2010, she moved to Pittsburgh where she founded the Pittsburgh Samba Group and Art in Motion, a Pittsburgh dance studio.

In 2021, Brussi Constantino opened Lua Dance Club offering classes for all age groups and exposing children to different languages as they learn to dance.

“I’m trying to bring something unique to Pittsburgh,” Brussi Costantino said when speaking of her dream of opening Lua Dance Studio. “When people think of Lua, I want them to think that they can go to our studio to learn more than just traditional dance.”

“We start the program by counting to ten in different languages: Portuguese, English, Japanese, Spanish, French, and Italian. We see the kids using these [languages] outside of the studio and it’s amazing and rewarding,” Brussi Costantino said of her choice to bring foreign language learning into the dance studio.

Lua Dance Club specializes in both children’s and adult classes, as well as cirque and Indian classical dance classes.

Recently, the Lua studio faced challenging times after two floods caused significant damage to the studio and the studio’s equipment in July and August. However, with help from the community, the studio was able to reopen just this September, and Brussi Costantino is ready to get back to business as Ms. Lucy again.

Lua Dance Club reopened on September 5, 2023, following two floods that caused the studio to close briefly in July and August. The studio enrolls students all year round and includes a first class free trial for students and families to decide if the studio is a good fit for them. Enrollment options, classes, and more can be found online at www.LuaDanceClub.com.
